Rapier, an elegant and deadly dueling weapon, was prevalent in the 16th to 17th centuries. It has a blade length of over 90 centimeters, a slender and double-edged blade, and is designed to be wielded single-handedly. The addition of a complex hilt design on the finger ring not only enhances protection but also adds to its aesthetic appeal. Masters of martial arts who study this weapon have branched out, and there are related martial arts manuscripts from Italy, Germany, France, Spain, England, and other places.
We are honored to invite Lee Smith and Nicole Smith from Blood and Iron Martial Arts to Clash of Steel.
Lee and Nicole have over 15 years of experience in various European martial arts weapons. For this class, they will enlighten us on the deadly and highly efficient nature of the rapier. The rapier is an elegant and deadly dueling weapon that was prevalent in the 16th to 17th centuries. Primarily a thrusting weapon, the key to success with the rapier is laying a strong foundation in the mechanics of the sword and the biomechanics of the wielder. Stay tuned for this exciting presentation!
