The particular guard in I.33 which is often described as ending/starting position for attracting strike, may actually be a great way to trap and then to gain control opponent’s weapon.
A technique in Chinese manuscript Jian Fa Jen Chuang described how to deflect opponent’s blade, which includes the use of elbow. With that inspiration, the PSL in I.33 now has much more aggressive usage.
We are honored to invite Exiel Li, the head instructor of Vor&Nach HEMA society. In this session, participants will learn and practice techniques with both single-handed sword and sword-and-buckler which came from Eastern and Western cultures.
This workshop does not require prior experience with sword and buckler or Chinese sword. However, our shared equipment is limited, so please bring your own helmet, gloves, one-handed sword, and buckler if possible. Long-sleeved clothing is also recommended.
