In The Flower of Battle by Fiore dei Liberi, grappling is presented as the foundation of all techniques, and occupies a significant portion of the sections on unarmed and dagger combat.
This course begins with two of Fiore’s unarmed guards: the Long Guard and the Boar’s Tooth. By cycling between these two guards, participants will learn how to safely enter into contact and close-range engagement with the dagger while protecting their vital areas. The course will also introduce material from the Third Remedy Master, focusing on ending the encounter by disarming the opponent, breaking their balance, or throwing them to the ground.
This course is suitable for general participants with no prior experience. As the training will involve a considerable amount of physical contact, participants are advised to bring their own protective gear and wear a long-sleeved shirt.
