For millenia, the knife has been man’s oldest and most trusted tool on and off the battlefield, a tool on the hips of farmers, hunters, soldiers and knights alike. This course will go into a variety of concepts central to understanding the role of man’s oldest and most valued tool on both the medieval and modern battlefield. My class will be focusing on the western traditions of dagger and knife combat, and will teach a selection of techniques and defenses from historical medieval manuscripts that survived hundreds of years and are still used and taught in many modern knife systems.
